Position Summary:

The Instrumentation/Electrical Specialist will be responsible for the quality of process related systems of all the LSPI Plant’s electrical, instrumentation maintenance, calibration and repair.


  • Perform work in compliance with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures. ( confined space entry, hot work, equipment lock out, Arc Flash standards)

  • Installation, layout and bending of conduit. Intrinsically safe wiring in hazardous locations

  • Installation, troubleshooting and repair of single and 3-phase motors up to 600VAC. Application of current NEC and NFPA standards

  • Installation and troubleshooting of control circuits

  • Installation, troubleshooting and repair of VFD’s & PLC’s

  • Installation ,troubleshooting and repair of Switch gear & MCC

  • Maintenance of Fire and Alarm systems

  • Maintenance of all electronic and pneumatic instruments including meters, monitors, flowmeters, level devices, switches, transducers, vibration sensors, temperature sensors, load cells ,control valves, automatic valves, actuators, and solenoid valves.

  • Calibrate and/ or verify shop test equipment

  • Maintain appropriate calibration records for process-measuring equipment

  • Actively participate in the Mechanical Integrity and ISO programs

  • Participate in the plant emergency response process and 24hr call-out program (weekends)

  • Support Team Based environment, manage multiple projects & strong communication skills

Basic Requirements / Required Skills & Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 5-7 or more years of electrical/maintenance experience in a Plant or industrial field

  • Ability to understand and interpret/apply National Electrical Code (NFPA70E)

  • Ability to read and understand schematics ,loop sheets, and wiring diagrams

  • Ability to wear PPE as required

  • Knowledge of computers, software and interfacing instrument control systems

  • Ability to use hand and power tools

  • Strong safety record and committed to supporting safety practices and LOTO procedures

  • Excellent mechanical aptitude

  • Apprentice Electrician with 5yr direct LSPI Plant experience

  • Successful completion of Maintenance I&E training

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

  • Certified Journeyman Electrician – TDLR license

  • Ability to respond to unexpected conditions/emergencies

  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions (heat, humidity, cold, wet)

  • Skill in handling multiple priorities and meeting critical deadlines

  • Experience with electro-mechanical and pneumatic industrial instrumentation including 4-20ma controls
