SUMMARY OF JOB

The Sales Manager is responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities for Lubrizol’s Specialty Additives segment. This person will be responsible for staffing and directing a sales team and providing leadership towards the achievement of team goals and profitable growth in line with the company’s vision and values. Key activities include the establishment of market penetration plans and strategies to expand the customer base, driving sales growth strategies as well as the development, management, motivation, training and educational programs for Account Managers

Scope:

  • North America (based in Houston, TX)

  • $80MM - $100MM

  • Six (6) direct reports

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Develops, drives and monitors a sales strategy for the Specialty Additives markets to ensure the attainment of company sales goals and profitability.

  • Manage growth in sales by developing plans jointly with Account Managers for customer contact efforts.

  • Responsible for the recruitment, motivation, management, performance and development of Account Managers.

  • Works with the Sales and Commercial Team(s) to prepare and initiate action plans by individuals as well as by team for the effective expansion of Lubrizol’s customer base and the development of customer relationships within the Specialty Additives markets.

  • Forecasts and achieves sales targets in alignment with action plans.

  • Supports and implements new product launches and related sales activities within the Specialty Additives markets.

  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the sales team.

  • Develop sales objectives/key goals with Account Managers and provide counseling, guidance, and support to drive product sales.

  • Identify additional sales activities, training, or materials necessary to accomplish specific product sales in key accounts or markets.

  • Perform analysis on region opportunities and create forecasts for sales results.

  • Provide product specific customer feedback (i.e., product features, functionality, competition, and possible sales results) to product line managers, Company management, or customer service personnel as appropriated

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (unless specified otherwise)

  • Business or Technical undergraduate degree. Advanced degree, MBA preferred.

  • Knowledge and ability to apply advanced marketing, negotiation and strategic consultative selling techniques.

  • Highly developed verbal and written communicative skills.

  • Must be well organized in order to manage time, develop plans, organize schedule, and do reports.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years sales management experience with 7-10 years direct sales experience and a minimum of 4 years sales experience in the Oilfield area.

  • Proven track record of achieving sales growth in selling value added specialty chemicals and managing a team of sales professionals.

  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics within the Oilfield market.
