Job Mission

The role of the Product & Marketing Director - Compressors is to drive profitable growth through the development and execution of short and long-term market based strategies. This is accomplished by leading a team of product and strategic marketing managers to develop a comprehensive marketing plan encompassing the development of meaningful value propositions, segmentation, value chain analysis, geographical and segment participation strategies, the analysis and assessment of CPI’s competitive strengths and challenges, evaluating the capabilities of the competition, reviewing the global market to determine and anticipate customer needs and determining, in collaboration with CPI's technology group, improved and new product offerings. This role has P&L accountability for CPI Fluid Engineering’s compressor business (current global revenue of $140MM). A critical responsibility of this position is creating alignment of goals and objectives across the different functions sharing responsibility for the execution of the strategies.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Defining and meeting annual profit plan targets (volume, revenue, margin)

  • Develop & communicate (internally) the long term business plans. Provide leadership in developing short term and long term profitable growth strategies

  • Ensure smooth collaboration and communication between Sales, Technical Support, R&D and Supply Chain for the execution of the strategy

  • Set price and volume targets for the Sales organization

  • Constantly scan the environment, analyzing industry trends and assessing business impact

  • Prioritize the technical support and R&D projects based on financial projections and strategic fit

  • Ensure all commercial assumptions are made upfront before committing technical resources and constantly test the assumption throughout the life of the projects

  • Provide guidance to Sales on contract negotiations

  • Develop and maintain a robust front-end innovation pipeline based on end-users and customers’ needs

  • Develop and execute the channel strategy

  • Identify adjacent and complementary spaces for growth and execute strategies to penetrate those spaces

  • Lead commercialization and marketing strategies to successfully introduce new products to market

  • Set the communications and promotion strategy ensuring brands have a clear promise and deliver on that promise

Basic Qualifications

  • BS or MS degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or in a Business Related field

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a commercial role, including prior experience in a product management or strategic marketing management role in the B2B environment

  • Familiarity with the Marketing Plan process in B2B

  • Prior experience leading people through change

  • Technical and/or sales background in specialty chemicals or lubricants is a plus

  • Report writing and presentation – commercial, technical, plans, presentations to internal stakeholders

  • Market analysis and ability to organize and present data in a cohesive and meaningful fashion

  • As much as 30-50% travel globally
