QC Technician

QA Laboratory Technician


This position will report to the QA Laboratory Supervisor. The goals of this position are to Performs a variety of Quality Control duties requiring a high degree of knowledge of QC and plant procedures within the Elmendorf, TX facility. Other duties include:

  • Must know the Quality Process and comply with all requirements of the Quality System Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Work Instructions.

  • Shall be familiar with the ISO system and know where the quality documents are located.

  • Notify QA Management of necessary changes and/or additions to laboratory quality documents such as inspection plans and SOPs.

  • Prepare chemical blends under the direction of the plant chemist or equivalent.

  • Interface with the plant chemist or equivalent and production personnel on any production-related issues.

  • Prepare and maintain records and documentation of inspection acceptance, rejection and/or re-work requirements.

  • Ensures analytical instrumentation is properly maintained, calibrated, and validated prior to operation.

  • Set up and/or adjust and operate inspection equipment to ensure its accuracy.

  • Maintain records of calibration for all testing, measuring and detection equipment that affects product quality.

  • Provide support for customer complaint investigations with guidance from the plant chemist or equivalent.

  • Actively participate in the quality system by taking part in internal and external audits, controlling documents and identifying and escalating nonconformances.

  • Manage inventory of laboratory reagents and supplies.

  • Adhere to strict housekeeping and laboratory hygiene standards.

  • Promote a culture of quality at the facility.

  • Promote and follow plant policies regarding safe and environmentally compliant work practices.

  • Other duties as required to support plant compliance with the quality management system and quality standards.


  • High School diploma and/or additional education focusing on chemistry, mathematics, communication skills, computers and ability to read basic technical documents (charts, catalogues and specifications, etc.)

  • 3 to 5 years of job-related experience.

  • Must be able to wear the required PPE (full-face respirator, fire retardant clothing, safety shoes, hardhat, safety glasses and laboratory gloves).

  • Ability to interpret quality control specifications and schematics or drawings.

  • Strong interpersonal skills (oral and written communication).

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

  • Ability to read and comprehend critical production documents.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to coach employees.
