Indirect Supply Manager

Job Mission

Looking for an ideal team player who would report to the North American Procurement Manager. Responsible for representing Lubrizol to supply base and facilitating the procurement of indirect goods and service.

Key Job Accountabilities

This individual will have accountability to procure a slate of equipment, supplies and services at the optimal value and also negotiate arrangements for budget limitations. In addition, this individual will be responsible for ensuring that relationships between the company and vendors are maintained to the satisfaction of all parties.

How You Will be Evaluated

Perform assignments related to the procurement of goods and services including but not limited to negotiation and implementation of regional agreements and purchases of capital equipment and contracting services required by Lubrizol’s chemical plants in the Gulf Coast region. The individual shall work within the framework of the projects with multiple disciplinary teams (maintenance, project engineering, IT, legal, finance, etc.) to deliver an optimized solution from the cost, TCO and risk standpoint to the manufacturing plants and project engineering team.

  • Act professionally at all times and handle all work activities in a legal and ethical manner in compliance with applicable laws and LZ policies.

  • Ability to research and identify capable vendors or contractors and Initiate selection, qualification and approval of new vendors.

  • Manage preparation, and maintenance of paper and or electronic Request for Information, Request for Quotes, and Request for Proposals through delivery and project close out.

  • Develop, manage and monitor national alliance agreements and Master Service Agreements.

  • Communicate, follow-up and maintain the commercial agreements in his/her portfolio.

  • Collect, analyze, and assure quality and accuracy of the spend analysis where applicable.

  • Assist corporate cross functional teams in defining project scope commercially viable (functional definition, value analysis).

  • Proactively identify value creation opportunities for internal customers, sourcing globally.

  • Maintain files and communicate non-conformance issues internally and with vendors.

  • Educate others involved with the project on procurement policies and procedures.

  • Negotiate spot purchases and agreements; enter, monitor, maintain and check compliance purchase orders and contracts in SAP.

  • Provide oversight to contractors to ensure Lubrizol’s deliverables are met, and feedback market insights to Procurement manager, interact functionally with strategic buyers.

  • Proactively resolve issues relating risk, schedule, TOC and invoice verification and processing as required.

  • Support compliance of all corporate policies and regional/local Health, Safety, Environmental and Security practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in supply chain, logistics, finance, accounting, business, economics, engineering or other technical discipline.

  • Minimum (5) five years’ related indirect procurement experience.

  • Ability to work in a Matrixed organization.

  • Strong SAP and Ariba experience.

  • Strong purchasing knowledge and experience.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to relate well with individuals at various levels, inside and outside of the organization.

  • Demonstrated negotiation, analytical and organizational skills.

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Involvement in outside professional groups.

  • Social Media Marketing on internal corporate communication sites.

  • Master of Business Administration.

  • Understanding and working knowledge of construction “means and methods”.
