Process Development Engineer

We currently have an opportunity for a Process Development Engineer available at our Brecksville, Ohio location supporting Life Science Health global product and process development projects.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise, lead, and support Life Science Health aromatic and aliphatic TPU product development, product scale up, process capability improvement, and new raw material evaluation projects.

  • Collaborate with multifunctional project teams of scientists, engineers, account managers, and product management for new product development projects for successful scale up and product realization.

  • Design, execute, analyze, and report (both written and verbal) on multiple, simultaneous complex projects within pilot plant and commercial scale manufacturing.

  • Coordinate and consult on new capital projects as needed.

  • Design experiments and analyze data from both the laboratory and pilot plant.

  • Work with external tollers for scale up and development of new compounds and products.

  • Continuously improve processes and capabilities by enhancing work flow and challenging the status quo for more efficient product scale up, operations, and quick customer response.

  • Comply with all applicable internal and external Lubrizol HSE policies.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's or higher level degree in Chemical Engineering

  • 2-5 years of pilot or manufacturing operations experience required

  • Strong fundamental knowledge in chemical engineering principals with proven problem solving abilities.

  • Strong project management skills utilizing stage-gate systems and job aids

  • Very strong “hands-on” mechanically and chemically oriented process-engineering skills.

  • Knowledge of unit operations and process/equipment calculations and design.

  • Knowledge of experimental design (DOE) and data analysis, using fundamental statistical techniques and statistical software.

  • Knowledge of medical device change management, manufacturing requirements, and GMP considered a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. Ability to work with others at all levels of the organization in multiple sites globally.

  • Customer focused – responsive to the internal and external customers.

  • Creative thinker with a proven track record of learning from both successes and failures

  • Basic knowledge of batch and continuous thermoplastic polyurethane polymerization manufacturing and chemistry.
