Solutions for Paper, Non-woven, Construction and Adhesive segments

The North American Core team is accountable for solving customer’s technical challenges, and demonstrating the uses & benefits of new and existing products for our region. As a Technical Service Chemist you will lead customer-based projects particularly supporting products for Paper, Non-woven, Construction and Adhesive segments in our region. You will have input into other paints and coatings applications projects, and are charged with elevating our formulation and testing capabilities to industry-leading standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead customer-originated projects for Paper, Non-woven, Construction and Adhesive segments in the North America region to meet our business and technical targets. Provide support to all other applications as required.

  • Lead and execute short to medium term development projects such as product modifications in order to meet customer provided specifications.

  • Develop and maintain in-house formulation and testing capabilities that is equal to (if not better than) our customer base.

  • Work closely with the Technical Marketing team to evaluate polymers and formulations, to provide results and recommendations to end users.

  • Collaborate with Lubrizol personnel to extend structure-property-performance understanding throughout the organization.

  • Support customers through investigation of problems, root cause analysis and proposal of solutions.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field from an accredited college/university.

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience formulating and testing materials in the required market.

  • Understanding of binder technologies.

  • Ability to travel as needed to support the evaluations of Lubrizol products and formulations (est. 10%).

  • Ability to work safely within LZAM laboratories and customer facilities.

  • Self-development skills, and ability to work well within a team.

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Good understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE).

  • Self-starter, highly motivated toward achievements, results-oriented.

CONSIDERED A PLUS:

  • Testing expertise in adjacent application areas such as textiles, wood, metal, plastics.

  • Knowledge of the polymers and additives used in the above-mentioned market formulations.

  • Demonstrated ability preparing and delivering customer-ready reports.
