The Lubrizol Corporation is looking for highly motivated students for our Mechanical Engineering Co-op Program to start in our program in the spring, summer, or fall 2019 semesters.

Many of our senior leaders began their own careers as Lubrizol co-ops; this list includes our President and CEO, Eric Schnur and our former President and CEO, James Hambrick. Each Lubrizol Mechanical Engineering Co-op is regarded as a potential future leader.
What will you do in the Mechanical Engineering Co-op Rotations?
Students are recruited, interviewed, and selected to join the Mechanical Engineering Co-op Program. Hired co-ops are then placed into our rotational program where assignments will range from maintenance and rotating equipment work, design and project management, and lab work with test engines. Each assignment offers a unique location and set of responsibilities. The following provides a brief description of some of the available work terms:
Project Management (Deer Park)
You have the opportunity to lead capital projects from design through construction. You will collaborate with multiple fields such as electrical, instrumentation, civil and structural. You will work first hand with the processing engineers to understand the needs of the unit and translate that into a concrete project.
Maintenance (Deer Park or Bayport)
You will learn the day to day roles that mechanical support plays in the upkeep and improvement of plant processes. This assignment will involve working directly with the equipment and end users and improving upon the designs of process equipment. You will have opportunities to work directly with the craftsmen in understanding rotational equipment such as pumps and agitators. You will gain an in depth knowledge of seals and the design and maintenance required to keep equipment functioning properly. You will also handle maintenance projects from design through construction.
Mechanical Testing (Wickliffe)
You will play a role in the final testing of Lubrizol’s products in our unique engine testing facility. You will design tests to see the effects of temperature, pressure, acidity, and many other variables on the engine life. Many of the tests include understanding corrosion, material wear, mechanical damage or warping. You will work directly with the Data Acquisition group, a group of engineers and instrumentation technicians, to design test stands around engines ranging from small scale lawn equipment to large turbo diesels for extreme conditions.
Asset Services (Multiple Locations)
You will learn the critical roles that mechanical and automation support play in all processes. This assignment will involve working with instrumentation, configuring control systems, troubleshooting, improving upon the designs of process equipment, working with the craftsmen, and gaining invaluable hands-on experience with chemical processing equipment. You may also have the opportunity to lead capital projects from design through construction.

Grow professionally. All co-ops present their work at the end of each work session to upper management. This is an excellent opportunity to improve your public speaking skills and hear what other co-ops are doing as well as get exposure to hiring managers and a great networking experience.
Full-time opportunities after graduation. Our engineering co-op program is an important vehicle for hiring full-time engineers at Lubrizol. In fact, more than 70% of co-ops come to Lubrizol after graduation. Who are we looking for?
Students currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university, with a graduation date of 2021 or later.
Ability to complete three or more co-op work terms.
Students with GPA >3.0 will be given priority consideration.
