Provide forecasting and actionable insights to support global operations objectives.
Ensure a strong control environment exists for accurate valuation of product costs, inventories and fixed assets.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the role is to provide accurate valuation of product costs, inventories, and fixed assets at the Vesta Franklin and Montana manufacturing sites. The role also provides insights on plant accounting topics to support management’s objectives.
Essential Job Functions:
Complete monthly plant financial closing and reporting for the Vesta Franklin and Montana plants in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Complete variance analysis and report key plant financial and performance metrics. Communicate results through published reports and personal communication. Review and analyze production variances, purchase price variances and inventory adjustments on a monthly basis.
Lead the annual operating expense budget process and complete forecasting requirements. Establish annual labor and overhead rates. Assist with the annual capital budgeting process.
Ensure that internal controls and measures on spending, production, working capital, and fixed assets are in place and functioning appropriately. Safeguard company assets. Ensure compliance with internal control checklists and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
Responsible for inventory reporting and control, including cycle counting and annual physical inventory.
Responsible for accurate inventory costs by conducting routine review and analysis of standard costs, including the costing of new products during the month.
Create and maintain production recipes for the Vesta Franklin and Montana plants, working with R&D and operations to ensure accurate batch size, yield and overhead units are applied appropriately.
Evaluate inventory for Non-Working Slow Moving (NWSM) or otherwise impaired material for adequacy of reserve balances. Work with Operations Management to ensure slow moving inventory is being reviewed and disposition considered on a regular basis.
Function as capital project administrator. Ensure that proposed capital projects include all appropriate documentation as to justification, classification of capital vs. expense, asset write-offs, and MIRR calculations where required. Work closely with plant manager and plant/project engineers to ensure capital projects are closed in a timely manner.
Support sales and marketing by completing ad-hoc product cost estimates for new products and various plant loading scenarios.
Assist in the improvement of QAD reporting and new measurement criteria leading to improved decision processes and overall improvement of plant performance.
Perform ad-hoc projects and analysis as requested.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Special Physical Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in accounting and/or finance.
7+ years’ experience in manufacturing accounting and/or varied financial/analytical accounting positions.
Demonstrated strong leadership and change management skills.
Proven self-starter with a desire to achieve; strong team focus.
Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office.
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to work with a broad range of internal customers ranging from plant management, plant engineering and production operators.
This role is located at our Vesta Franklin, Wisconsin facility. Minimal travel required.
Considered a plus:
CPA and/or MBA or equivalent.
Experience using QAD in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in a variety of financial software packages, especially Excel, SAP, Analysis for Microsoft Excel (SAP add-in).
