The Industrial team at Hazelwood currently have the following opportunity for a Technology Manager / Formulator available.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop new industrial lubricant formulations for hydraulics, turbine, and industrial gear applications. The Technology Manager will also be responsible for representing Lubrizol Industrial Additives technology at the customer interface in partnership with our commercial, sales, and customer program management team. Industrial Technology Managers will be expected to coordinate with Lubrizol’s Viscosity Modifier team to drive customers towards the use of internal Viscosity Modifiers, which are a source of growth in key markets. The role involves technical project management and problem solving.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the development of new products and global technology platforms

  • Develop fundamental knowledge to improve industrial additives technology

  • Focus on delivering growth by working closely with Lubrizol Viscosity Modifier teams to drive towards increased use in customer formulations

  • Advancing product integrity initiatives

  • Conduct product approval testing programs that meet customer and industry requirements

  • Interact effectively with Operations, Research & Development, Testing, Business Divisions and Sales to support business objectives

  • Provide technical consulting to the commercial, sales, and customer program management community for regional and global projects

  • Estimate and develop project plans (scope, objectives, milestones, resources, and economics)

  • Build and maintain customer relationships to deliver products that meet or exceed their expectations

  • Lead and contribute to the understanding of how Lubrizol’s chemistries impact performance in hydraulic or other relevant industrial equipment and hardware systems

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree qualified or equivalent in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related technical discipline

  • Technical experience at Lubrizol or a lubricant / additive company

  • Specific experience in more than one functional area of relevance to Industrial Additives end uses, e.g. antiwear, extreme pressure, friction modifiers, viscosity modifiers, detergents, antioxidants and / or dispersants.

  • Strong problem solving skills, and the ability to develop solutions based on facts, data, and logical assumptions

  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work effectively in multifunctional, global teams

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and be self-driven

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to engage at all levels in a company both internally and externally

  • Proven track record of effective project management and execution

  • Ability to travel as part of role

  • Knowledge and interest in Industrial equipment and technology (for example, steel mills, excavators / construction equipment, energy generation) would be an advantage
