Summary of Responsibilities:

The Supply Chain Planner/ Buyer position is responsible for the short and middle term planning of intermediate products, raw materials and finished products. This role is vital to the success of the LZAM Supply Chain Planning Group. The key duties consist primarily of the daily tasks needed to plan production for assigned sites and place purchase “releases” with our external supplier’s base. In addition, the supply chain planner/ buyer is responsible for managing inventory levels to meet customer service levels, (once they are established and agreement is reached with the respective business unit). The role liaises between plant personnel, master production scheduler, supply chain manager, leadership team members, external suppliers and business contacts to ensure we meet our customer’s expectations and ship materials/ products in a timely manner. It is crucial the planner/ buyer work closely with our domestic and export customer service representatives. The planner/ buyer is the primary planning contact for their respective areas of responsibility.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Ensure we meet the internal and external demand for the site and communicate requirements to the corresponding production area and external suppliers. The required scheduling tool is utilization of planning screens in SAP.

  • Printing and releasing process orders, split process orders, print customer labels, generate purchase releases, and prioritize process orders by ship dates.

  • Manage inventories of assigned intermediates and finished goods to ensure demand/orders are covered as well as working to meet established inventory targets.

  • Maintain the inventory accuracy for raw materials and intermediates/finished goods including some pack supplies determining the root cause of the problem and providing information/proposal/justification regarding the reasons behind difference detected.

  • Confirm sales orders for assigned products and updated orders with changes to product availability, based on manufacturing and general text comments in accordance with established process time standards to provide the customer service representative with all pertinent information to provide to the customer.

  • Responsible for ensuring proactive plans are in place to manage raw materials inventories.

  • Maintain and/or increase inventory of raw materials and/or increase inventory of intermediates/finished goods to ensure we have adequate supply of finished goods to meet demand.

  • Responsible for coordinating production requirements.

  • Where applicable manage intercompany purchases.

  • Perform quarterly reviews of inventory to determine levels of materials and establish reworks, re-certification, re-packs or scrap plans as appropriate.

  • Responsible for reviewing material returned during the month and completing transactions to the appropriate status.

  • Communicate effectively and timely alerting of issues and or changes that may impact our customer service levels. This includes, but is not limited to communicating the impact on previously confirmed sales orders when schedule changes occur and or when supplier inform about delays and or changes.

  • Back up other planner/ buyers when necessary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Physical Requirements:

  • Professional degree in supply chain, engineering or operational management or equivalent education in the related field.

  • More than 4 years supply chain planner/ scheduling experience.

  • SAP experience it is a must.

  • Must be proficient in MS tools (Excel, Words, Power Point, etc.)

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

  • Must have strong work ethic, professional attitude, and be detailed oriented as well as reliable.

  • Ability to multitask many projects at once.

  • Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done.

  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
