Summary of Responsibilities:
The Plant Manager provides overall leadership of the Engineered Materials segment of the Lubrizol Advanced Materials division in Louisville, KY. This position is responsible for setting the vision for the site that allows for the effective planning and execution of all activities needed to support delivery of products and services to our customers, while ensuring overall sound operation of the facility.
Essential Job Functions:
Lead and exemplify a culture where ‘safety is a core value’ is a true belief and ensure safety accountability across the organization.
Manage and lead the central functions including manufacturing, HSE&S, plant logistics, purchasing and maintenance/engineering including an expense budget.
Ensure establishment of Lubrizol systems and procedures that support HSES, Quality, operations, HR and Finance programs.
Lead projects and teams following Lean, Continuous Improvements or Six Sigma principles.
Promote a plant culture that is responsive to the manufacturing environment and business needs through teamwork and personal responsibility of the processes.
Drive and support continuous improvement and operational reliability management systems.
Oversee talent management and employee development and promote constructive employee relations.
Work closely with marketing, sales, and the R&D functions to support and contribute to new product development, scale-up, and product modifications.
Be active and visible within the organization in order to improve and bridge the gap between the business strategy and the employees.
Lead and complete miscellaneous projects as necessary.
Skills, Qualifications, Experience, Physical Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
Previous plant experience plus manufacturing supervisory/managerial experience of minimum 7-10 years is required.
Proven ability to effectively lead with minimal supervision, demonstrating an entrepreneurial attitude
Proficient in leading the plant, providing direction, support and development for manufacturing teams across the plant.
Can effectively work in a matrix organization.
Strong communication and networking skills.
Strong PC skills, including MS Office software; strong understanding of SAP.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills as well as facilitation experience.
Self-motivated, proactive with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, “high energy", team oriented environment
Must demonstrate enthusiasm, a sense of urgency, attention to detail, commitment and follow-through while maintaining confidentiality and meeting deadlines
Experience working with unions considered a plus.
