Position Summary

Responsible for leading and overseeing the tactical planning/scheduling and inventory activities for all materials that support the CPI businesses as assigned, with the primary focus being on the global Paratherm business unit. These activities are to follow the Sales and Operations Plans (S&OP) and established agreements and forecasts, with reasonable agility to adapt to non-forecasted events and demands. This includes coordinating the sourcing and supply of products from assigned Contract Manufacturing (CM) and/or Lubrizol plant operations, and communicating updates to manufacture product and complete customer shipments. The role also includes the interface with assigned inventory management coordinated within overall CPI Supply Planning through cycle counts and physical inventory scheduling.

Management and oversight of planning/scheduling and inventory levels at manufacturing and warehouse locations as assigned. Use SAP to monitor inventories, review forecast, sales orders, and establish Material & Resource Planning (MRP) settings for dynamic stocking definitions (SS, LT, MOQ, etc.), and alert settings to generate intercompany orders, toll production, and vendor purchases to restock.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support an inclusive work environment with the supply planning and inventory team (Supply Planning).

  • Hold team meetings with aligned Sales and Management and Customer Service.

  • Provide guidance and support for overall CPI Supply Planning.

  • Have recognized expertise and capability in SAP ERP System interface.

  • Review and optimize the MRP settings for the dynamic inventory (tracking of forecast and sales) to define the SS, LT, Min, Max levels, enabling the use of SAP to plan and schedule sourcing of materials for customer shipments. Monitor inventories, forecast, and define the notification alerts to create inter-company orders, CM production and vendor supply – purchase orders.

  • Follow established procedures per the CPI Integrated Management System (ISO-9001 and RC-14001).

  • Matrix Manage proper resource needs across CPI for assigned business unit(s) and geographies.

  • Follow and support the S&OP Plan. Set, track, and improve assigned S&OP metrics.

  • Participate with the S&OP process, providing input to optimize the supply & inventory plans to meet forecasted demand for assigned plants/locations.

  • Execute annual S&OP Plans (supporting business objectives).

  • Communicate sourcing decisions/needs that vary from the S&OP Plan, and propose/implement alternatives.

  • With CM Procurement and CM Operations leadership, have responsibility for tracking and minimizing Take-or-Pay (ToP) requirements at CM sites where applicable. Work closely with Lubrizol Procurement to execute CM contracts and responsibilities within those contracts.

  • Monitor the inventory levels (including safety stocks) and future supply vs demand, to initiate the re-stocking of warehouses. Set and deliver upon inventory objectives for the CPI business unit(s) for assigned geography(s). Assure logistics requirements are in place to deliver products globally.

  • Identify and scope potential sourcing optimization opportunities. Complete assigned sourcing optimization projects.

  • Respond to inquiries from Procurement on vendors, material, or sourcing needs globally.

  • Assist with inventory management through cycle counts and physical inventory.

  • Monitor Inventory aging/shelf life (assess at least monthly) and manage inventory to targets.

Education / Certification

  • A 4 -year degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Economics, Business, or related field preferred, with equivalent industry experience considered.

  • 2-5 years’ experience in Supply Chain / Supply Planning, knowledgeable in industry/markets.

  • Must possess solid work ethic (self-starter and highly motivated) and be detail oriented.

  • Professional behavior with emphasis on interpersonal skills, written/verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize tasks and meet required deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills & detail-oriented.

  • Thorough understanding of SAP planning and related work processes, including MRP.

  • Required: Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

  • Project Management skills a plus.

  • Transportation and Logistics knowledge a strong plus.This job reports to the Supply Planning leader, with the role located in Midland, MI. Periodic business travel will be required to the Philadephia, PA Paratherm business center, with travel anticipated to average approximately 2-3 days for every 6-10 week period. Empowerment & Decision Making To be a successful Planner/Scheduler (and eventually develop into a potential group leader), the employee must be able to act independently knowing when the manager or other management, as appropriate, needs to be included in the decision-making process. Communication is a key element to this position as the individual must keep all parties (Sales & Management & Procurement) informed of supply issues and must communicate to understand large order or re-stocking requirements.
