Technology Development Engineer, 3D Printing

Location: Europe w. preference Montmelo, Spain


The fast-growing industry of 3D Printing (also called Additive Manufacturing) is one of the identified strategic business development areas for Lubrizol. As the 3D Printing Technology Development Engineer, you are responsible for further expanding our organization’s portfolio of 3DP technology/applications capabilities, allowing us to position ourselves as a solution provider to the industry. You’ll need to understand the key technologies and capabilities required by the market, understand our current portfolio and determine critical development areas and ultimately validate and select potential partners to close that gap


Essential Job Functions, Roles and Responsibilities


  • Provide strategic direction for the technology and product development programs for the 3D Printing business
  • Provide leadership in solving customer complex field/product development programs
  • Contribute to global 3DP business strategies and tactical plans
  • Contribute to the development of new business opportunities and identification of market trends, ensuring the business can capitalize on changing market dynamics
  • Support the Account/ Business Managers through the development and delivery of technical data and presentation material
  • Establish strong technical relationships with OEMs, strategic value chain partners and customers
  • Drive projects for OEM accounts with the customer, R&D and Business/Account Managers
  • Provide quarterly status report to executive business team on market dynamics and changing market conditions
  • Work closely with R&D to support product development
  • Leverage LZAM post-processing technologies with external partners
  • Evaluates existing technologies/applications to determine technical changes, schedules projects, resources, and monitors timelines
  • Oversees feasibility researches, estimates project timeline and cost.  Makes recommendation to organization on preferred strategic path



    Education/ Certification


  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar field.
  • Proven track record of success at application development



Experience and Skills


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in 3D Printing field
  • Solid understanding of 3DP technology
  • Strong data analysis skills, ability to understand complex problems and provide creative solutions
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Knowledge of commonly used software
  • Self-starter with ability to publish and track record of publications is a plus
  • Fluent in Spanish
