The Instrumentation Project Specialistis a role in the Asset Services Control Systems Engineering Group. The Instrumentation Project Specialist supports the plant by facilitating cost effective project designs and accurate facility maintenance support deliverables. In addition, the Instrumentation Project Specialist administers instrument engineering software applications to leverage and improve their value to the plant.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Facilitate/assist instrument project leaders and instrument engineers with the creation of instrument tags and instrument specifications using the facility's SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) System.

  • Review instrument selections for consistency with plant equipment standards and typical application.

  • Create/revise SAP Plant Maintenance information for instrumentation capital project work.

  • Create or Revise SAP Function Locations (F/Ls), equipment records and associated SAP class data

  • Request SAP material numbers for any new instrument equipment

  • Create MWNs for projects as instrument equipment is received

  • Update SAP Plant Maintenance instrumentation information for capital projects as the project is implemented. Coordinate project updates with the Painesville facility SAP TOU .

  • Provide backup to Painesville facility SAP TOU.

  • Maintain effective communication with project team members.

  • Follow and maintain plant engineering and design practices

  • Observe safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; and use facility equipment and materials properly

  • Additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Qualifications, Experience:

  • Minimum of an Associates degree in an engineering discipline or related field.

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in process instrumentation maintenance and/or capital project experience in a chemical or refinery industry.

  • Minimum of five (5) years experience with SAP Plant Maintenance Master Data Records (Functional Locations, Equipment, Materials, BOM’s and Classification Data). Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance Master Data reports.

  • Ability to interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagram information. Knowledgeable of ISA standards.

  • Knowledge of process measurements and instrumentation used in the chemical process and refining industries. Familiarity with chemical process equipment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and Autodesk Design Review DWG Trueview software.

Considered A Plus:

  • Knowledge of maintenance and capital project procedures and documentation

  • Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI). Ability to provide user and administrative support.

  • Experience with use of SAP to support maintenance and capital project activities

  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 National Electric Code and ASTM Material Standards related to instrumentation equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be willing/able to work in a plant environment. Must be able to climb stairs.

  • Work is performed within a controlled environment; noise levels in some areas require hearing protection.

  • Must be willing/able to be exposed to inclement weather while moving throughout the plant during the work day as required.

  • Expected to wear all required PPE.
