Health, Safety and Environment Manager

The HSE Manager has the following roles and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the application of HSE procedures, rules and regulations on the Site and ensure the compliance with the HSE Corporate Standards and with Legal Requirements applicable to equipment / installations / employees and contractors at the Lubrizol Sant Cugat Site.

  • Mandatory inspections by Certified Bodies (AP, APQ, ADR, Waste water, Air emissions, Waste…)

  • Internal & Corporate Audit Program

  • Audits conducted by Competent Authority (Seveso, Environmental Authorization, PRL…)

  • Ensure the safety of people, the property and the respect for the environment while driving and carrying out their work.

  • Organize and provide the training in HSE for all Lubrizol employees, whether permanent or temporary, as well as the initial training in HSE for the Contractors.

  • To take the necessary decisions and actions to guarantee the permanent availability and adequacy of the means of control and prevention against fires, explosions, contamination and / or any risk of natural origin (torrential rain, etc.).

  • Ensure proper waste management and disposal for destruction or recovery in accordance with current regulations.

  • Develop action plans to implement all new HSE standards and procedures and follow these action plans until their full implementation.

  • Conduct and establish the necessary Plans for applicable regulatory audits, external audits, conduct internal audits, and establish action plans to periodically verify compliance in HSE.

  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and HSE Standards in submitted projects and, as such, has the authority to invalidate a project that does not comply with current regulations and Standards.

  • Establish action plans to implement all new regulations and follow these action plans until full implementation.

  • Establish relevant regulatory verification plans, carry out audits and, where appropriate, solve the "non-conformity findings" so that the HSE regulations are periodically checked and verified and constantly applied.

  • Manage the compliance of all official reports/conditions/requirements needed for operating authorizations and / or conduct all studies required by public authorities.

  • Participate on the Safety Committee representing the LZ Site (both with Plant Manager and Eng. & Mtc. Manager) in the decisions agreed on the quarterly regulatory meetings.

  • S/he is the spokesman representing the plant direction in absence of the Plant Manager.

  • Manage the plant HSE Budget

  • Manage people to create a highly motivated and efficient team

Expertise / Knowledge / Skills

  • Master degree in Science, Chemical or Industrial Engineering

  • Post university degree in Safety (3 specialties Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics and Psico-social)

  • Post university degree in Environmental Management or proven expertise in the field

  • Expert in HSE regulations (Spanish and European)

  • English language skills at Proficiency level

  • Technical background and knowledge of the chemical processes (polymerization, batch production…)

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in a similar position * Integrity and Trust, and Ethics and Values. * Self-starter, methodical with excellent organizational skills. * Interpersonal Savvy: Strong interpersonal, motivational skills, and building team spirit. * Flexible, Perseverant, Problem Solving and able to perform under strain * Intellectual horsepower and Learning Agility
