Job Title : Legal Counsel

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Act as a business partner to ensure the business of his/her responsible BUs and Functions is conducted in a legal and ethical matter in China, and that competent and effective legal services are accessed to assist in achieving the strategic goal of the business of the responsible BUs and Functions in China;
Provide solution orientated, cost effective and risk balanced consultancy to protect the best interest of the Company and enable the development of business;
Develop a good understanding the business/operation of his/her responsible BUs and Functions and maintain close working relationship with the leadership team as well as working level colleagues of such BUs and Functions;
Identify, advise and support internal client to make decisions on various matters related to operation in China and potentially in the region in the areas of commercial, corporate, compliance, labor, finance, tax, environmental health and safety, dispute resolution etc.;
Perform day-to-day commercial legal work for matters in China and potentially in AP region, including drafting and reviewing commercial and other documents with legal implications;
Proactively monitor, detect and respond to legal and ethics risks in business operations;
Keep updated with the development of legal knowledge and skills and anticipate the impact of current or emerging legal issues and risks to the Company;
Provide training for functional teams across the organization on a variety of legal topics;
Interact effectively with lawyers of US legal team
Participate in projects as assigned from time to time by Legal Director, Asia Pacific REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS:
At least 5 years related practice experience with a multinational corporation and/or an international law firm/reputable local law firm in China;
First degree in law with the qualification of Chinese bar, graduate education desirable (overseas LL.M. an advantage);
Excellent in both oral and written English and Mandarin;
Sound business sense and a strong interest in integration with business operations;
Sound interpersonal and communication skills;
Able to make difficult decisions and stand behind them, and able to deliver advice (even unpopular advice) to clients in a timely and professional manner;
Self-motivated, passionate and persistent in legal counseling and advocating, and able to work independently and manage complex workload under pressure COMPETENCIES:
