Coordinates the planning and scheduling of maintenance work for the Spartanburg Facility. Acts as the principal liaison between Maintenance and Operations and other users of maintenance service for the entire facility. Works closely with maintenance, operations, and the engineering group to plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance-related activities required to meet our customers' requests, keep the facility in optimal condition, and improve the efficiency and quality of the maintenance service provided. Determines scheduling priorities in order to minimize nonproductive delays and maximize the utilization of manpower and material resources.

Essential Job Functions

  • Plans and schedules general and preventive maintenance work for their assigned work crew

  • Reviews new maintenance orders (notifications) from customers then verifies the accuracy, clarity, and completeness of information. Adds additional information needed for maintenance database.

  • Analyzes the requested work and determines the best method of planning and executing according to due date, materials needed, priority, resources, and availability of operating equipment and other customers' facilities

  • Estimates the total cost of the more complex jobs and ensures that the work is properly authorized by the required level of management in the requesting department

  • Specifies the design, the materials, and special tools and/or equipment, and if necessary the sequence of job steps required to perform maintenance task

  • Prepares simple sketches, or arranges for drawings and designs from the engineering group, when necessary for the proper description of the planned work

  • Assures P&ID are attached to work orders (where appropriate) and are appropriately redlined and provided to engineering for updates

  • Identifies any potential hazards or circumstances that required preliminary or subsequent work precautions (e.g. lockout/tagout, line breaks, hot work, confined space, . . .) and specifies them on the maintenance order

  • Ensures that all required materials are correctly requisitioned and available for delivery or pick-up in coordination with the work schedules

  • Maintains close contact with operations in order to assist in determining work needs and realistic job priorities, and to ensure maximum coordination between operations and first line supervisors in organizing and executing work

  • Provide planning as necessary to assure various permits including preplans are scheduled to allow operations and/or maintenance to carry out work to support site maintenance requirements

  • Works closely with the customer, the work crew foreman, other planners, and the engineering group in scheduling preventive maintenance, shutdowns, capital projects, and other major or special maintenance work

  • Generates a daily work schedule for the work crew by working with the work crew foreman and considering the materials available, the craftsmen available, the craftsmen's skills, the customer's priority, and the equipment of system availability

  • Communicates with customers when scheduling jobs and/or meeting requested completion time. Contacts the customer as soon as possible when the completion time is in jeopardy for whatever reason

  • Monitors and communicates with the customers and their management regarding the progress of jobs, the work backlog, and general maintenance status and activities

  • Monitors the maintenance/capital project work load balance along with work backlogs. Identifies potential conflicts and reports these to the maintenance crew foreman

  • Reviews returned maintenance orders (and other paperwork) from the work crew craftsmen for accuracy and completeness

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education / Certification / Skills / Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution

  • Experience and knowledge in maintenance work crew planning

  • Ability to read prints, proficient math skills, and awareness of energy source/hazards

  • Knowledge and proficiency in computer software: Windows (operating system), Outlook (e-mail)< Explorer (intranet & internet), SAP plant maintenance module (all maintenance functions). Knowledge in Excel (spreadsheets) and Word (documents) is a plus.

  • Must possess a detailed understanding of the function and workings of utility and process equipment and systems, repairs, maintenance, and construction within operations and the Spartanburg facility

  • Attention to detail in all aspects of their job: planning, reviewing, and completing paperwork, and scheduling resources (manpower, tools, equipment, parts).

  • Demonstrates good organizational techniques in order to deal with the large volume of work, the complexity of some jobs, and the limited resources available during some periods
