Lubrizol Occupational Nurse in Wickliffe, Ohio
This position will be responsible for overall function of the Wickliffe Medical Department. The occupational nurse will ensure proper care is given to employees in the event of injuries and illnesses as well as having preventative care responsibilities. The essential job duties and responsibilities are listed below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Manage Worker’s Compensation program.
Perform and/or supervise the performance of medical testing for employees, contractors and potential employee candidates which includes annual and pre-employment physicals.
Collaborate with onsite groups to develop and implement medical surveillance programs.
Maintain accurate medical records of current employees.
Medical oversight of supplemental nursing staff and medical assistant.
Ensure all medical equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
Coordinate wellness programs, such as mammograms, influenza vaccination, and other related activities.
Manage the salary continuation program. Advises the employees of their rights under the salary continuation and FMLA policies. Works with the employee, their doctor and supervisor to achieve a timely return to work, including limited duty is appropriate.
Works with Human Resources Department to ensure appropriate administration of Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), controlled substance testing and drug and alcohol program administration.
Update supervisors on employee’s work status due to medical leave, short term illness, or restrictions.
Create and update work instructions as required; create or assist with implementation of new work instructions/policies/procedures.
Assist with budget planning to provide for efficient and effective health services.
Maintain an understanding of the specific job hazards related to employee health.
Ensure proper stocking and ordering of medical supplies.
Provide occupational health education to onsite departments as requested.
Performs clerical duties related to the operation of the medical department.
Provide initial medical care for emergency and non-emergency walk-in injury or illness; utilize assistance of site EMTs and outside agencies as approriate.
Additional duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
Licensed to practice nursing in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner.
Minimum of 5 or more years’ experience in an Occupational Health, Primary Acute Care, case management or Emergency Room setting.
Considered a Plus:
Certification in Occupational Health Nursing (COHN or COHN-S)
Current NIOSH approved spirometry training
Current CAOHC audiometry certification
Drug Screen Collection Training
Proven PC skills, including MS Office software
Possible exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens and infectious illnesses.
Occasional observations in plant production and service areas requiring long sleeves, hard hat, safety glasses, and steel toed work shoes.
