OVERVIEW

 

Responsible for providing strategic and tactical leadership in the development and implementation of the facility’s HSES and Responsible Care® programs and initiatives. Assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and corporate and industry standards consistent with Lubrizol’s Corporate Philosophy, and Health, Safety, Environment and Security policy.     

 

CHARACTERISTICS

 

This is an experienced professional with training and/or education in the HSES field.  This position is responsible for managing, developing, and implementing programs and initiatives in HSES compliance and management and RC14001 program. This is a highly visible position requiring significant interaction with all levels of the facility organization as well as with the corporate HSES function.  Generally, specialization and years of experience are required.      

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Facilitate the development and implementation through line management of HSES programs and initiatives in support of the facility’s compliance programs, Responsible Care Management System, and facility and corporate goals.
  • Assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and company policies and standards.
  • Identify, prioritize, develop, and implement HSES department activities to ensure that it is supporting and contributing to the goals and objectives of the facility and the overall HSES function.  
  • Manage resources to ensure they are assigned appropriately and that priorities are being addressed to avoid redundancies or non-value added efforts.
  • Represent Lubrizol on community activities as appropriate
  • Support the development, implementation and maintenance of HSES standards and culture
  • Interact frequently with manufacturing staff to ensure safe operations

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

  • Bachelor degree in science, engineering, occupational health or related major.
  • Five or more years of progressively increasing responsibility in HSES area, preferably in a chemical plant. 
  • Expereince with Responsible Care Management Systems preferred 
  • Strong organization skills
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment
  • Ability to work successfully with internal and external customers in a professional manner
