Manufacturing Engineer_Medical Tubing
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for a wide variety of duties associated with overseeing, coordinating, and controlling the manufacturing of polymers, including analyzing jobs, assigning jobs, assigning work to employees, resolving problems, monitoring work activities and performing related duties, under the direction of the Manufacturing Manager, within the limits of established policies.
Responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and controlling the activities of the department using related equipment and processes.
Monitor the safe manufacture of products composed of varied materials.
Assign work to employees in keeping with schedules and by difficulty involved, and instruct, direct, and check their work on a continuing basis.
Evaluate work quality and quantity and resolve problems in quality and workmanship.
Work with Operations Manager to troubleshoot manufacturing problems, take corrective action and implement new projects.
Drive continuous improvement activities which include, but are not limited to: lean manufacturing, core problem solving and 5S events.
Monitor department work activities.
Receive and breakdown schedules, analyze jobs to determine machine, equipment and processing parameters as required.
Interface with engineering, customer service, quality control, and other departments to obtain clear quality instructions, secure services and information.
Schedule in urgent jobs and comply with revisions.
Maintain discipline and employee morale.
Assist employees in planning, setting up and inspecting work.
Take immediate action to correct any unsafe practices observed and promote safe work practices.
To perform scheduled training for safety, job orientated tasks, standard operating procedures, and/or housekeeping procedures
Attend all manufacturing meetings as scheduled.
Conduct performance reviews for employees.
Must be able to provide feedback and coach employees on their performance and when necessary develop performance improvement plans.
Maintain related records, files in up-to-date condition.
Maintain office area and equipment in clean, safe, and orderly condition.
Follow established company/department rules and regulations and maintain quality standard.
Responsible to perform accurate cycle counts
Responsible for correct inventory transaction and moves
Perform other related duties as directed or as responsibilities dictate.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Plastics Engineering
Experience with polymerization chemistry and/or extrusion processes troubleshooting and optimization preferred
At least one year of experience as a supervisor preferred
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to motivate and coach others
Very strong process engineering skills, with an emphasis on troubleshooting and process improvement
Strong data management and organization skills
